The deadline to submit a workshop proposal is Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2:00PM EST.

This year’s Victims and Survivors of Crime Week (Victims Week) virtual events will take place from Monday, May 12 to Friday, May 16, 2025.

Please ensure you have read the Workshop Guidelines before completing this form.

In addition to this application form, a photo of each presenter must be submitted by email to vwsdv@justice.gc.ca. If chosen to present during Victims Week, the photo(s) will be used alongside your biography in our online program.

The information that you provide in this form will be used by the Victims Week National Organizing Committee to review the applications. It will also be used on the Victims Week website if you are chosen to present.

Your contact information will not be released for any reason, unless you have included it on your electronic presentation and have encouraged participants to contact you.

Workshop Information

Please provide a brief description of your workshop, its learning objectives, and how it reflects the theme of Victims Week (500 words maximum). If it is a training session, please indicate if any accreditation will be earned by participants. If chosen to present during Victims Week, this description will be used to help create our online program.

Please provide a brief (100 words maximum) biography of the first presenter below. If chosen to present during Victims Week, your biography will be used in our online program.

This year’s Victims Week virtual events will take place from Monday, May 12 to Friday, May 16, 2025. If you are chosen to present during Victims Week, you will be assigned either a morning (11:00am to 12:30pm EDT) or afternoon (1:00pm to 2:30pm EDT) time slot during this week.

If you or any of your additional presenters are unavailable to present during any of the following time slots, please check the corresponding box below. Please ensure you are not unavailable for more than two days:

If you are chosen to present during Victims Week, all presenters must use a wired headset with an integrated microphone. This equipment is mandatory. It helps to protect the health and safety of interpreters and ensure that the sound quality is sufficient for interpretation.

Please choose one of the following options:

If you are chosen to present during Victims Week, all presenters must make themselves available for a video and audio test run. Attendance for this call is mandatory and is necessary for our technical team to ensure a proper set-up ahead of your workshop. This year’s test run will take place on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm EDT.

For the test run, you will be asked to wear your headset and connect to the test run from the location and device you will use during your workshop.

If you are chosen to present during Victims Week, will you be using a PowerPoint presentation (or similar electronic presentation)?

Please note that if you are using an electronic presentation, it must be sent to vwsdv@justice.gc.ca no later than Friday, April 11, 2025 for translation purposes. Once you have sent your electronic presentation, it must not be edited, altered, or updated in any way.

If you are chosen to present during Victims Week, will you be showing any videos as part of your presentation?

Please note that if you are sharing any videos as part of your presentation, they must be sent to vwsdv@justice.gc.ca no later than Friday, April 11, 2025 for translation purposes.

If you are chosen to present during Victims Week, do you consent to the Policy Centre for Victim Issues at the Department of Justice Canada sharing and distributing your presentation materials, such as electronic presentations and videos, with participants before and after your presentation?
