National Victims of Crime Awareness Week Funding 2012: Instructions for Applicants

  1. When completing this application form, please refer to the online guide entitled “How to Apply for Funding – A Guide to Preparing a Proposal”, which provides detailed information on all of the points that you are required to address in your funding application. Please also refer to Annex A, attached to the funding application, which describes the theme for NVCAW 2012.  How the theme is reflected in your proposed project is one of the most important aspects that will be considered in the selection process.  Finally, you can consult our “FAQ” document for answers to common questions.

  2. Your application must meet the criteria set out by the selection committee. The selection criteria are listed below.

  3. Please use the checklist attached as Annex B to ensure that your application is complete and that your proposed project meets all of the selection criteria.

  4. This form, once completed, contains all the necessary information to allow us to fully assess the merits of your proposal for NVCAW 2012. The deadline to submit your funding application is November 7, 2011.   Applications will only be accepted up to this date. As funding is limited each year, not all eligible applications can be approved.

  5. Your application form must be completed IN FULL. Once completed, it must be submitted BY E-MAIL to: victimsweek-semainedesvictimes@justice.gc.ca. Please note:  The Department of Justice DOES NOT need a signed paper copy of this application.  The submission of this application electronically to the Department is understood to be consent for the Department to review the application and to enter into a funding agreement with the organization, if funding is approved.

  6. Finally, if you have any questions that are not answered in the package of documents that you have received with this application, please email us at: victimsweek-semainedesvictimes@justice.gc.ca

Selection Criteria

The following criteria will be used by the selection committee when reviewing applications and deciding which projects will receive funding:

  2. The application must be submitted by November 7, 2011. No late applications will be accepted.

  3. All expenses listed in the application must be eligible for funding (please see “How to Apply for Funding – A Guide to Preparing a Proposal,” and the “FAQ” document included in the NVCAW 2012 funding package for examples of eligible and ineligible expenses).

  4. All expenses must be reasonable and customary, and must demonstrate good value for Canadians.

  5. The theme for NVCAW 2012 (Moving forward) must be reflected in the proposed project.

  7. Collaborative projects / community partnerships are encouraged.

The following two factors will also be taken into account by the selection committee when reviewing the funding applications:

  1. The selection committee will take geographic representation into account, to ensure that projects are funded in each province and territory.

  2. The selection committee will undertake a global assessment of all proposals in a given jurisdiction to ensure a good variety and broad reach, as well as to avoid too much similarity / duplication in projects.
